5 Things I Do Before Every Trip
No matter where I'm headed, a weekend getaway, a city adventure, or a longer vacation, there are a few things I always do before I leave.
I've learned that a little preparation can save a lot of stress later. These simple habits have become part of every trip I take, and they help me spend less time worrying and more time enjoying the journey.

1. I Research More Than Just the Tourist Attractions
Don't get me wrong, I still visit the famous landmarks.
But some of my favorite memories have come from finding a local coffee shop, a scenic overlook, or a neighborhood that wasn't on the front page of a travel guide.
Before every trip, I spend time reading reviews, looking at maps, and exploring places that aren't always at the top of every "must-see" list.
2. I Download Everything Before I Leave
I never assume I'll have perfect cell service.
Before I travel, I download:
Boarding passes
Hotel confirmations
Maps
Entertainment for the flight
Reservation emails
Having everything available offline gives me peace of mind.
3. I Check the Weather One Last Time
I usually look at the forecast several times before a trip, but I always check again the night before I leave.
It helps me make last-minute packing changes and avoid bringing things I won't use.
4. I Make a Flexible Plan
I like having a plan, but not an hour-by-hour itinerary.
I usually choose:
A few places I definitely want to visit
A couple of restaurants I'd like to try
One backup idea
Leaving room for unexpected discoveries is often what makes a trip memorable.
5. I Remember Why I'm Traveling
It's easy to get caught up trying to see everything.
I've learned that I don't need to check every attraction off a list to have an amazing trip.
Sometimes the best memories come from slowing down, taking photos, trying local food, or simply enjoying where I am.
Final Thoughts
Travel doesn't have to be perfect to be unforgettable.
A little planning gives me the confidence to enjoy every destination while still leaving room for unexpected adventures.
That's become one of my favorite ways to travel.
